Today’s featured website:
1- Finish HTML Challenge
2– Write down any questions about HTML now by going here (we will come back to these)
3– Digital story telling tools
We are going to take a break from HTML to use digital story telling tools that curate social media to build a dynamic webpage around a certain topic.
Examples:
Rebel Mouse
Site for Medford using our social media accounts (Twitter and Facebook)
Sites about the World Series created by my students last year:
Chedeline and Elizabeth:

Storify

A talk at Harvard about the hidden science in hip hop
The 2014 NFL draft by Sports Illustrated
Your Project
Working in three groups of four people, you are going to choose either Rebel Mouse or Storify to create a dynamic webpage about the upcoming state election.
To get started, choose a site and sign up (free):
Next, decide what content you will use- Twitter accounts, individual tweets, hash tags, Facebook accounts, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.
To get started, look at the individual candidate websites and news websites. These are great places to begin to find the social media accounts for the candidates and for news organizations.

Project Goals
a. Our goal is to have these completed by Wednesday of next week so we can look at content leading up to Tuesday’s election (you know, the day you have no school) and content afterwards.
b. As you build these sites, think about the difference between doing this and building a page in Notepad with HTML. What are the main differences?
c. Why are sites like Rebel Mouse and Storify useful? Would you use them again; why or why not?
