1.  Firebug

Firebug is a really cool add-on for Firefox (and Chrome) so you can see- and edit- the HTML and CSS of any webpage. You can see exactly how the page is coded and you can make edits (of course just for you to see if you’re tweaking a site that’s not yours) and instantly view the changes. Alternatively, it’s a great way to review your own webpage and check out your code in real time.

Click on the Firebug link above to install it (please do this in Firefox, not Chrome). Once it is installed, to access it simply right click anywhere on a webpage and click on “Inspect Element with Firebug,” located at the bottom of the menu.  You can also get to it under Web Developer tools from the Firefox menu.

This is a great learning tool for you for reviewing what you already know and for discovering more HTML and CSS coding.

2.  CSS Practice

You will play two games on Mozilla Thimble today:

Get off my lawn (zombies!)

Bunny Masher (save the bunny!)

3.  Next project

Choose a website to re-create

Your next project will be re-creating two pages of a website, any website you want. You can either try to re-create the pages exactly or do something new and different. Spend some time today deciding which site you’d like to do. I will come around to check in with you to see what you have chosen.

This project will include:
– Setting up a page with HTML and CSS with an external style sheet (I will help you get going with this)
– Potentially using Photoshop or Fireworks to create or edit a graphic or image
– Using CSS to select appropriate colors and fonts
