1.  Great job on this page!

2.  Don’t forget about LinkedIn!  While I will periodically bug you to update it throughout the year, you should feel free to add things such as a job, volunteer experience, project, class work, published article (Mustang News, Mantra, etc.), academic, sports, or artistic award, club membership, leadership role, etc.

3.  Web tools overview

Let’s check out some useful tools you will find handy throughout the year and in general:

http://www.gotsitemonitor.com/– Get free email updates when your site is down

https://archive.org/web/– Use to look at old versions of web pages

https://ninite.com/– Download multiple apps at once; great if you’re trying to work with all different browsers and want to install them in one step

http://www.webpagetest.org/– Webpage performance test (also try http://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/)

4.  We will break into two groups and do the following:

a.  Group brainstorm of ways news can be used in the classroom, especially with technology.

Document with Post-it’s and use the new iPad app to digitize them.

b. Re-imagine this page.  How would you reorganize it?  What would you add?  What would you change?

Sketch out the new page with paper, markers, etc.  Use http://coment.me/ to help organize your thoughts.
