1.  Finish up and test your mobile websites

2.  What’s it like to work for Facebook, Twitter, or Google?

3.  Is the internet really wireless?

4.  Check out the Boston Globe’s latest website

5.  Next project- responsive website

You are going to create a responsive website.  You will choose a website that you like and will use a responsive template to re-create that website.

Today you want to start thinking about sites you like and which websites you might want to re-create.

But first, what is responsive design?

Why is it important to consider how your site looks on different screen sizes?

Working together, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript can make a website responsive.  Basically, the site will adjust itself based upon the size of the screen that is accessing the website.  This happens through media queries, where the code is making a request to the device that is viewing the site to determine its screen size.  The site will then load the appropriate version depending upon the device.

Wait a minute- you just spent a good amount of time creating a mobile website app.  Why would anyone do that if they could just use responsive design?  When does it make sense to make an app, and when does it make sense to use responsive design?  What are the differences between these approaches?

Let’s look at some sites we like to use and find out if they are responsive.  Use this handy site to check:
