1. If you are interested in volunteering this summer at my web design class for kids, please let me know and leave me your email address. There are 3 separate sessions- July 8-12, July 22-26, and August 5-9. Each class is from 9am-12pm each day. You can come and help as much or as little as you want! The classes will take place at the McGlynn School.
2. Would you like to volunteer or participate in the Walk for Krystle? It is this Sunday at Hormel Stadium. The event benefits the Krystle Campbell Scholarship Fund at Medford High (which maybe someday one of you will apply for and/or receive!).
3. App Inventor- hate it or love it or kinda like it?
4. What’s new with Facebook- hashtags and using profile pics as emoticons
5. Check out some cool browser extensions to boost your productivity. What do you think?
The last one isn’t actually a browser extension but is a website. If you like adorable cats this site rewards you with a picture of one every time you write a certain amount of words.
6. Everything you wanted to know (or didn’t want to know) about programming languages. Find out the languages that are used by some of your favorite websites and companies.
7. These days it seems as though there is an app for everything.
8. Final countdown! We have seven classes left, counting today. Five of those classes are full days and two are early release days.
There is no traditional final exam in this class but there is a final project.
You are going to choose what to do for your final project. Here are your choices:
1. Create an app with App Inventor. Either create your own or follow one of the more advanced tutorials.
2. Create a mobile site/app with Dreamweaver. Topic of your choice.
3. Recreate a website you like. You can do this using either Notepad ++ or Dreamweaver.
Please let me know by the end of the period today what you are going to work on for your final project.
