No computers- Wireframes Day!

Today you will be planning a webpage using wireframes. Wireframes are just simple drawings that show the layout of content on your page and its navigation. It is extremely helpful to do this before you begin building a page since you can see where your content will go and plan out what the structure and menu system should look like.

Here is a good example:

You will be planning a webpage about the Culinary Arts Department’s annual holiday bake sale.

Information on the bake sale can be found here:

http://www.medfordpublicschools.org/2011/12/annual-culinary-arts-holiday-bake-sale-thursday-december-22/

Using markers and the large pieces of paper, you will sketch out one or two pages. Think about how images will be laid out, content, headlines, etc.

You will use information from the school website AND we will be visiting the Culinary Arts students on Tuesday to take pictures and video as they prepare for the bake sale, which is next Thursday.

We will also visit the bake sale next Thursday to take more pictures and video. No free samples- plan ahead if you’d like to buy something! This is a fundraiser for the Culinary Arts department.

After you’ve completed your wireframes, you will use them as a guide to build your webpage.

Options

You have learned different skills over the past couple of months. You know enough about colors and images to put something creative together. You learned this week how to set up a table and you also used wigflip.com to create cool graphics and animations. Think about that as you sketch out your webpage.

Grading

This is a class project we will work on this week, next week, and possibly after vacation. Projects are worth 50% of your grade.

You can work individually on this or in groups of two people.

You will be graded on the following:
– Effort
– Creativity
– Page layout
– Page organization
– Following instruction (Did you include everything that was required? See below.)

You MUST have at least:
– One COMPLETE webpage
– 3 images AND one video
– A favicon (we will go over this again if necessary)
– One graphic from wigflip.com
